Seven years ago today, NFG released their first album, "It's All About The Girls, E.P." That night, the band played a CD Release Party at Club Q in Davie, FL. This was drummer Cyrus Bolooki's first show ever as a member of New Found Glory.
Check out what the press had to say about the album:
“A New Found Glory for me is discovering how good this CD is. It has all the aspects of what makes a CD a hit – songs about girls, friendship and life. The music is tight and well recorded. I kinda thought it was cool that Chad from Shai Hulud plays guitar for them because it’s nothing like Hulud. I think the music emanates a little bit of The Get Up Kids and some other softcore “hug” bands. Overall, definitely worth your time!”
-- Ink 19, March 1998
“Damn this is good. I knew from the opening “Ferris Bueller” sample that I was gonna love this baby. Five songs are definitely not enough. High energy emo-pop-core with a high school outlook on relationships and all the chicks that screwed these cats up. It reminds me a bit of an adolescent Gameface (which is a good thing) meets The Get Up Kids/Texas Is The Reason (vocals). Even if you don’t support Florida bands you should still get this and quit listening to that cock rock all the time.”
-- Crash and Burn, Spring 1998
“It’s wrong of me to review this CD right? Tough luck, I’m gonna do it anyway. A New Found Glory, the newest South Florida band, is making heads turn. “They came outta nowhere” is a common response to the band – and that’s 100% true – they came outta nowhere, and it’s safe to say that they’re never going back. This band has more diversity than a public school, with a hardcore sXe [straightedge] vegetarian Lutheran (Chad), a pot smoking Jew (Ian), a sporty high school valedictorian (Cyrus), a sweater wearing emo pretty boy (Steve) and a shy self-conscious boyfriend (Jordan). United on this five song CD, the boys of A New Found Glory whine and bitch all about the girls that have wasted their time and ruined their lives. The best songs on here are “Scraped Knees” and “Standstill.” A must have for anyone who has ever liked somebody.”
-- Fiddler Jones, December 1997
“Definitely the cutest band in South Florida!”
